#1: June 30th, 2011: 82 days until I leave.

82 Days, 1982 hours or 118926 minutes (probably about 15 less by the time I finish this) to go until I leave for Rome. Rome, Roma, any way you say it, it sounds amazing. It's why I took a year of Italian, spent hours at meetings and tried on one very ugly skirt my mom thought would be nice when I was in Rome. Everything in my life seems like it's getting ready for Rome. A place I can't wait to be. It's going to be an amazing experience and I'm ready for it.

Rome is going to be an adventure. My roommate Regina and I are going to firenze, venezia, napoli and possibly milano. That's in Italy, outside we're thinking London, Paris, Zurich, Vienna or Prague. I'm finally going to go to a place my mom hasn't been and wants to go to!

Of course spending my days reading next to centuries old buildings, walking through museums with artifacts and art older than the United States and eating as much gelato as possibly isn't without giving up somethings.

I have to give up thanksgiving with my family, Halloween with my friends, 3 months of seeing my friends from home, school and everywhere else. Giving up my friends and boyfriend at school will suck just as much even though I will have my awesome roommate and my friend Libby still. My best friend Cathy will be in France, studying abroad so hopefully we'll be able to meet in Paris for thanksgiving for something, who knows.

I'm going to get lots of time to write, maybe see my family in Switzerland and of course wander the city as much as possible in between my classes which actually look pretty cool. I'm going to have the time of my life and the best experience possible. Nothing could be as amazing as this and I'm going to let nothing spoil it. This is worth everything I'm giving up at home and at school (sorry to those of you there). My life is about to change in 82 days as I jet set across the Atlantic on an 8 hour flight before 3 months in Europe. 82 days is a long time but also just around the corner. It'll be here before I know it and it's still a long way away. 82 days until Rome and the most amazing experience of my short life so far.
